Palestinian Shawl 1850

This early Palestinian wedding shawl is made of a local levantine hemp grass as opposed to a linen or cotton background found in later examples. It is in excellent condition and displays very nicely. The purple/grey silk highlights may be derived from Mediterranean seashells.
